ear candling - i did it!
excess wax build-up - yups that's me, but not any more! i went for my first ear candling session this evening at j's salon, and the approximately 40-minute session also includes a shoulder and face drainage massage, absolutely non painful, but rather, very soothing and relaxing. it was actually a pretty last minute decision to finally book an appointment, but after all, this was already super long overdue, still remembered i wanted to go for it even before my amsterdam trip (which was in june), for fear my ears will get blocked during the trip (since it did happen after my swim at bintan last year, and it's such an irritating feeling having to endure with impaired hearing while on holiday).
anyway, this is how ear candling actually works: it makes use of a hollow candle with the narrow end that is placed snugly into the ear, and the other end is the one you light. the burning of the candle creates a gentle vacuum that can soften and dislodge wax and debris and and draw them out of the ear into the hollow candle. after the procedure, a powedery substance is left in the stub of the candle - the therapist did cut open the two burnt candles for me and it's amazing to see and satisfying to know that my ears are now cleared! woohoo.
