some daily ramblings:
1) how am i feeling - so drained! i really should have come home early to enjoy my air-flown roasted goose from hong kong, now i'm prevented from doing so - supposed to starve overnight in preparation for my routine medical checkup tomorrow morning (read: blood-test!). argh. [btw, it was my mum who brought the roasted goose back after her 4D/3N trip.] oh well, i cheated though... had a nice cold glass of milk with spoonfuls of instant oats - can somebody pls assure me this is cholesterol-free?
2) well well well, at least i received my first early birthday gift - ck euphoria scent (50ml) from changi duty free! that's not it, my nephew (this is my cousin's son from hk) bought me a mickey mouse ringer tee (probably from their disneyland), it's such a sweet gesture, though i really wish it's a size smaller. seriously, i can only vaguely remember how he looks like, it was at least ten years ago since i met him. i better remember to drop him a thank-you e-mail, and pester him for a photo!
3) two big meals tomorrow - farewell lunch for TWO colleagues at harbour city, psa building, then birthday dinner with the family at kippo pavilion, keppel club. sat's plan will be a barbecue gathering at jack's house (as usual, i almost referred to it as jack's place, haha) - a mass birthday celebration for the three great ariens - guess we'll have to shelf the chalet plan for the time being, yah? and i'm still clueless about what i'll be doing on sunday itself! *hmmm*
4) OH and i haven't mentioned this! i'm finally going on a short trip! to kl!!! my well-deserved break! finally. even if it's only 3D/2N, i'm going to make sure i come back with a loadful of shopping goodies, and more importantly, a re-energised body and soul.
5) april's going to be such a great month. ;)

The Five Love Languages
My primary love language is probably Physical Touch
with a secondary love language being Quality Time.
Complete set of results
Physical Touch: 10
Quality Time: 7
Receiving Gifts: 6
Words of Affirmation: 6
Acts of Service: 1
Information:
Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, XP! |
hey, look how we've grown - some of our pictures taken since 2003!
not a good day to sun bathe, but hope you're still enjoying your leave and japanese buffet! you've been such a dear friend, and you know what, i can always count on you when i need to vent my frustration or bitch about work, or simply to cure my boredom on the journey home, 'cos you're just so quick with your sms replies, and you're just as long-winded as me! the past year hasn't been all that smooth-flowing...*big bear hugs*, let's hope for a much better year ahead, may you be blessed with great health, wealth (good increments and bonus payouts!), and happiness! :) btw, when am i going to have the honour of meeting the prospective boyfriend(s)? ;)

a very sweet romantic song which was sent to me via msn a while back, which was used as one of the theme songs at giles&wen's wedding last sunday, and which was the first song being played on my ipod shuffle on the way to work this morning.
i wanna grow old with you - adam sandler
i wanna make you smile,
whenever you're sad.
carry you around when your arthritis is bad.
all I wanna do,
is grow old with you
i'll get you medicine,
when your tummy aches.
build you a fire if the furnace breaks.
it could be so nice,
growin' old with you
i'll miss you, kiss you
give you my coat when you are cold.
need you, feed you.
i'll even let you hold the remote control
so let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
put you to bed when you've had too much to drink
oh I could be the man,
who grows old with you
i wanna grow old with you.
you can see that i spent my off day yesterday munching away! :P wild mushroom crepe, rosti with sour cream (btw, i think i should try my hand at making this dish), rum & raisin ice-cream (if you like yours strong in rum flavour, you won't regret trying olio bites)! v for vendetta is not our typical action movie, it shows a totalitarian britain set in the future, and how a strange masked man tries to get the public to rise against oppression. i'm feeling generous tonight, so i'll give it a 3.5/5.

the welfare event organised this time round was a family day at the singapore zoo, specially planned during the school holidays for the parents to bring along their little ones - the toddlers were all so adorable (*pinch pinch*), and it's quite funny to see many of the kids being splitting images of their parents, just like their miniature version. of course, there were bound to be games for us to interact and i was unfortunately randomly picked as the team leader (to think this was meant to be relaxing huh!). we were given photographs with cut-outs and the aim was to hunt around the zoo for the missing pieces. thank goodness it wasn't all too challenging, except we had to call the hotline to request for hints for the final one - this mesh tin which all of us immediately assumed to be some kind of feeding tray for the animals, and it turned out to be part of this survivor kit's exhibit at the fragile forest!!! fragile forest might not have existed the last time i was there, which was about seven years back.
everybody was equipped with cameras and went snapping throughout the day, especially when we know the recent resignations meant that this was going to be the last welfare event for a couple of them. it was free & easy after lunch, so as the rest of the families continued their tour round the zoo, the younger beings indulged in our ben & jerry's ice-cream! (erm, actually i was simply too bloated after lunch and decided to skip those calories - if you noticed the picture below, it was jessie who kindly passed her sherbert cone over to me to complete the entire (greedy) look, harhar.) fun, fun. :)
more shopping in town for farewell presents, then queensway for birthday presents! MY FEET IS STILL HURTING! xp ended up choosing the exact same pair of asics running shoes (good taste! :P), and i got a pair of nike gym pants for my california fitness workout, fast and sharp, all within an hour. we ended our friday casual chatting at ikea cafe with swedish meatballs, poached salmon and fried chicken wings. what more can you ask for. :)

now i know how it feels to be so embarrassed you wished there was a hole right at your feet to bury your head in. when i was about to pay the cabbie this morning, i opened my wallet and found only a miserable $2 note! to think i was so sure i had enough cash on me, since my last visit to the atm was just three days ago. including all the coins which i have, which thankfully worked out to be $4 in total, i was still short of $1.20! argh. it really surprised me the driver was so nice about this whole incident, and he seemed all ready to write it off even before i started digging for my coins and even reassured me it was okay with him. hmmm, an idea just struck me, should i write in to comfort to commend him, since i've got the receipt stating the car plate number?

apple? cinnamon?
adapted from allrecipes.com, the only change i made was to reduce the white sugar by 1/4 cup and used both white and brown sugar in 50/50 proportions. and once again, instead of jumbo-sized muffins, i made mini sized cupcakes - 25 of them in all!
anyway, yesterday on the way to jurong point, i almost crashed into two cars when i mistakingly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal near the traffic lights! i could feel my heart drop for that split-second...what a close shave. phew.

sugar-high thursday
- marshmellow mudpie & black-out cake! @ changing appetites, marina square
xp was trying hard to capture a clearer image of the black-out cake using lion's new nokia phone - if you check out the layers of chocolate fudge, you'll know that it's only meant for choco-lovers (and i just have to add that lion's phone is damn chio). but just as its name implies, it turned out to be a blackish block under the restaurant's dim lights. to think lion was innocently asking if my phone has BLUETOOTH, or if they can MMS me the photos... they still haven't realised that the poor old me is at least 5 years backward with my nokia 6510 - no camera, radio, no in-built mp3 player, no MMS, no bluetooth, no tri-band, NO COLOUR SCREEN (even), no polyphonic ringtones or fancy wallpapers, no NOTHING. these days, i'm just thankful my phone doesn't hang when i access my inbox. pathetic. nevermind, wait till 2nd of april...i'll be off for a minor upgrade.
anyway, i love girly outings, they always seem to come with shopping and desserts to satisfy my sweet tooth. ;)

new additions to my bed! mogu-like red and green apple pillows - oh-so-cheery! :)
the oven's starting work again, after a short break - this time round, white chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, an attempt to use up more of this huge bag of white chocolate chips and existing ingredients such as the rolled oats i have for breakfast. recipe is adapted from allrecipes.com, with some adjustments - reduced both the white and brown sugar from 1 cup each to 3/4 cup, substituted 3 cup ap flour with 2 cups self-rasing/1 cup ap flour, then obmiting baking soda/powder, and lastly, substituted pecans with walnuts. :) i think i'm going to play around more with oatmeal! yummy-yum.
i want this - euphoria by calvin klein eau de parfum spray. didn't know it only comes in the eau de parfum version, no wonder the hefty price tag!
euphoria, the new fragrance from calvin klein, has top notes of pomegranate, persimmon and lush green accord; a heart of dewy lotus blossom, champaca flower and black orchid, and a drydown of liquid amber, black violet, cream accord and mahogany wood. the drydown is the key accord of the scent. the bottle, designed by klein and fabien baron, was inspired by an orchid about to bloom. it is an ergonomic piece of glass encased in an aluminum shell, with hints of the amethyst-hued juice visible on either side. the rectangular aluminum cap is engraved with the fragrance's name and klein's name.
