i'm back from my sweden trip! actually it was yesterday that i landed on singapore soil - home sweet home!
our original plan was to stay two nights at orebro, and then another two nights at karlskoga, but my contractors decided that karlskoga is too dead a town to stay in and we might even have problems getting a decent meal. seriously, other than the first day whereby we had almost the whole day after lunch to walk around to admire the (few) attractions of orebro, the trip was basically all about work! in fact, although i didn't plan any activity on the last day morning, we still visited the factory and because of all the screw ups, we had to gorge on our macdonald's meal in order to make it to the airport on time. like people often say, murphy's law reigns supreme, basically anything that can go wrong will go wrong - it's terrible, especially when there is little you could have done to prevent them.

anyway, we were thankful that we managed to enjoy a homemade swedish dinner at one of their homes at the outskirt of town. we were introduced to their version of crayfish that night, somehow they didn't look like the typical ones which we get here in singapore, and were told that they were actually preparing for a crayfish party the following weekend. such parties are part of the swedish tradition and are usually held yearly in the summer (normally in august) when the swedes are lucky to experience warm and clear nights. and like all european dinners, we had lots of alcohol that night (for my standard) - beer, red wine and snaps (about 40% alcohol). oh yes, we were terribly envious of the amount of land you can own in such countries. imagine the daughters actually get to play in a dollhouse built in the garden, just like what we used to read about in enid blyton books. they actually chop their own firewood, and paint their own barn during summer - something city folks like us can never imagine doing.
anyway, i had my break today, and it's time to face reality again tomorrow. tgif!
