26, 26, 26...... gosh!

birthday update part 1

it's quite a memorable 26th birthday for me two days ago. as usual, i was on leave, hence, a long weekend for me. (btw, it feels good to be on leave on a monday, especially so when you know that everybody else will be suffering from monday blues. *evil grin*) after the clock struck midnight, the sms-es started coming in... many thanks to those who remembered and for the kind blessings, quite a number were people i haven't contacted for the past year, it was nice to hear from them once again. i was really caught by surprise, since i'm terrible at remembering birthdays myself. the bf, being his usual sweet self, surprised me with a black puma carry bag which i've been eyeing for a rather long time, and a pretty forever friends card with pink 3d hearts all over. other than the birthday ang pow, mummy also made me a bowl of birthday mee sua with a hard-boiled egg and lots of liver and pork slices. i believe it is traditional for chinese to have this dish on their birthday to signify longevity. (btw, this is not the norm in my household, mummy made it again this year because the bf was loud-mouthed and asked innocently...)

AND... can you believe where we actually went after such a heavy brunch? we went to ikoi for japanese lunch buffet (for those who don't know, ikoi is at miramar hotel, and is pretty famous for its a la carte buffet). although we're both sashimi fans, we didn't expect the waitress to give us two HUGE plates of assorted raw fish - which was a bad news because i don't take anything other than salmon (no snapper, no yellow tail, not even tuna, no no). the ebi and mushroom tempura was really tasty - crisp, light and freshly fried. i really wished i had more room for cold soba and some rolled sushi.
