osaka

we arrived at osaka on sunday evening after transiting at tokyo. it's the same routine for us throughout - morning call at six (gosh!), breakfast at seven, and coach to leave at eight. since i'm the early bird sort, it didn't take me long to get used to the rhythm, although i can't say the same for my other half. for our package tour, we had a choice between universal studios and kobe, and obviously the bf who LOVES taking adventure rides chose the former. before heading to the theme park which starts operating only at ten, we visited osaka castle and were lucky to be treated to some great chrysanthemums display show as we entered.

osaka castle:

we had time to enjoy all the rides we planned to take - jaws boat ride, spider-man 4D adventure ride, jurassic park water ride, shrek 4D animation, waterworld stunt show, and i guess spider-man ride has to be our favourite, it was really good! we managed to take pictures with popeye&olive, elmo and woody woodpecker (was quite lucky with elmo as he was preparing to go for his break, i think i was the last) - for this you really have to be slightly thick-skinned and fight with the kids for your turn. hmmm, but japan generally isn't very tourist-friendly - there was no english/mandarin translation during the shrek movie.
