daniel's belated birthday celebration
we went to botan japanese restaurant located at far east square on saturday evening for daniel's birthday dinner, albeit late because he just came back from the states. (oh yeah, that reminds me - thanks for the cute m&ms and assortment of candies!) we ordered the dinner bento sets... almost every part of the table was covered with small dishes of food, we were simply spoilt for choice and at some point you'll feel that you really didn't know what to eat next!
what's dinner without dessert! hence, we drove down to holland village for ice-cream! :-) the price of earthquake has really gone up over the years, and the size of the scoops has shrunk tremendously too! well well, probably the last sumptuous meal before i pop - less than two more weeks to go!

probably my last steak meal in months to come...
we went to centrepoint on sunday to shop for daniel's birthday present, and had dinner at aston's. i must say the service there was pretty good... the waiter, seeing my huge bump, even advised against medium-well steak, i relunctantly gave in and had it changed to well-done - my ribeye steak ended up so tough!

our saturday
we went to the baby seminar organised by pigeon and thomson medical centre yesterday - boy, it was really quite a good deal! for $15 per couple, we got ourselves a pigeon goody bag (moisturising baby wipes, disposable nursing pads, milk storage bottles, etc) and a pretty darn good lunch at the hotel! we didn't even know that lunch would be provided, else we would have given our snack a miss (we gobbled down some four leaves bread minutes before the seminar, thinking we had to starve through four hours since we only paid a miserly $15, haha). anyway, the seminar was pretty useful; the talks were conducted by mrs wong boh boi, a very knowledgeable and reputable speaker in this area, and she shared with us breastfeeding tips and how to bathe a baby. there's this 3-month old french baby that was the model for the bathing segment, and the poor kid was wailing away just before and after his bath - well, i guess he doesn't enjoy being naked in the open and cold!
it was also my bro's 31st birthday yesterday, so mum made pork chops for dinner. okay, the pork chops were really HUGE - see the hubby goofing around before dinner, amazed at the size of each serving. and this was not it, we had it with potato salad (by yours truly), almond jelly dessert, more fruits, and a chocolate hazelnut cake from four leaves later in the night. i seriously don't think i can maintain my weight after this weekend.

her tiny clothes
this is just a fraction of her collection of clothes, in fact, most of them are already washed and nicely packed in grandma's house - think she has more than enough to wear from birth till six months! bad lighting 'cos the picture was taken late at night - anyway it was the daddy who ordered me to take this picture 'cos he found it so damn cute, hah!

36 weeks!
How your baby's growing
Congratulations! By the end of this week, your pregnancy will have come full term - meaning your baby can be born any day now. (Babies born before 37 weeks are premature or pre-term, and those born after 42 weeks are post-mature or post-term.) All babies are different but a typical 37 week old weighs 2.86kg/6.30lb.
at 35w4d, she was estimated to be about 2.6kg which was very slightly above average (so mummy doesn't need to go on a diet for sure). dr said that she has a chubby tummy (haha! considering her head circumference is average), and estimated that she should be about 3.3kg at birth - that doesn't sound too bad.
How your life's changing
You may begin to feel increased pressure in your lower abdomen and notice that your baby is gradually dropping. This is called lightening or engagement and your lungs and stomach will finally get a chance to stretch a bit, so breathing and eating become easier. However, walking may become increasingly uncomfortable - some women even say it feels as if the baby is going to fall out. (Don't worry, it can't happen.) You may feel as if you need to go for a wee all the time however. Practising your pelvic floor exercises can help.
nah, from the scan on monday, she's definitely not engaged and in fact, i think she's still pretty high up in my abdomen! dr said that most babies would have descended abit by now... so i was told to do more walking, and not risk being overdue - think the little one's too comfy inside)! maybe i really should so that i can stop putting on anymore weight!
Be prepared
Could this be the real thing? Learn to distinguish the true signs of labour. If your partner's hard to get hold of, buy or borrow a mobile phone or pager. Make sure your car always has enough petrol to get you to hospital and that you know the best route and where to park. Have a friend on standby to drive you to hospital if he's likely to be delayed. It's also a good idea to review the stages of childbirth with your partner so you'll both be up to speed on the big day. Finally, have your hair cut now so you look your best in the photos - you may not have time later!
true signs of labour - hmmm... don't really want to think about it now, but anyway, we were told to watch out for THREE signs:- (1) water bag burst, (2) bleeding, and (3) contractions that occur every 5 minutes, and for (1) and (2), we will still have about 1-2 hours to get to the hospital, which means i should take a bath and slowly make my way there. for first-time mums, once contractions is every 5 minutes, i still take about 8 hours on average before the actual labour (sounds horrid).

Survey shows civil servants happier compared to those in private sector
SINGAPORE : Employees working for the government are happier than those in the private sector. This is according to an online survey conducted by JobsCentral, one of Singapore’s largest job portals.
Civil servants scored 58.5 on the JobsCentral Work Happiness Indicator, higher than the average score of 55.9 for employees in the private sector.
A score of 50 indicates that an employee feels neutral about his work happiness, and a full score of 100 will mean that he is very happy.
Chief executive officer of JobsCentral, Lim Der Shing, said the result was not surprising.
He said the civil service in Singapore is well—run and has rather progressive human resource policies in place.
Employees in education/training have emerged as the happiest, followed by those in public relations and consulting.
As for industry, employees in the arts, entertainment and recreation industry are the happiest. — CNA/ms
