it's indeed different this year, with our little addition. but what's the same is that the hubby still bothered to plan a little surprise for me. :-) like i mentioned before, it's tough to go out for dinners these days 'cos ashley will need her sleep before 8... i insisted that we can't go for dinner, so he had to change the reservation to lunch. i can't believe that i'm hitting 30... and i guess like what a colleague told me, my greatest achievement this year has to be giving birth to ashley. i'm glad i had my first kid before 30, 'cos i'm not really sure if i will still have the energy to keep up with breastfeeding, night feeds, etc... and i'm sure the lack of sleep for the past many months is contributing to my wrinkles.
oh anyway, back to the birthday celebration. the hubby planned the lunch to be at gordon grill at goodwood park hotel. we both had the lunch set - 4-course for him, and 3-course for me (everything's the same but i did without the appetisers), and the unique part was that they served small samples of 3 appetisers, 3 soups, and 2 desserts... the pictures will tell you that we had no regrets! the ambience was good + service was top-notch (now i feel bad for not tipping!), they gave us a private area knowing that we're bringing along a kid... and most importantly, the food was top-notch. i'm pretty sure this is the best and most value-for-money meal we had so far!

(1) a single green cymbidium orchid... coincidentally, that's also the flower i chose for our wedding photoshoot.
(2) the basket of warm bread... we had another serving. :-)
(3) the hubby's appetisers - he chose sscargots, hokkaido scallop and foie gras.
(4) we had the same soup sampler - lobster bisque, mushroom and french onion.
(5) we also chose the same main course, which was the beef fillet - yummm.
(6) lastly, our dessert - chocolate hazelnut tart + creme brulee, served with tea.

haha, see little ashley eyeing my bread roll...! btw, the dress i'm wearing is my birthday present courtesy of the hubby - got to wear something new on my birthday right! anyway, i was quite close to buying it for chinese new year earlier this year, but decided to cut down on expenses at that time... i'm glad it's still in stock - thank you, daddy! :-D
