our precious
ashley is 5+ months already, and she's becoming even more fun-loving than before. she's learning how to sit up now, although she still needs her arms to support herself. she's also trying to "crawl", although technically, she's has only started to learn how to go into the crawling position, and will pounce forward, especially when she wants to reach out for her toys. the other thing about her is that she likes being supported while standing up... perhaps she finds it interesting to be able to see things in a different perspective.

we also started to borrow some books for her whenever we have the time for the library... and i'm trying to insert a few minutes of reading and nursery rhmye singing (she definitely prefers this) as part of her bedtime ritual. it's not easy actually since our little girl needs her beauty sleep before 8pm. we try to go back home as early as we can from work, but by the time we get back and have a quick dinner, she's already starting to be very cranky. anyway, the rest of the pictures were taken this morning soon after she woke up - we notice that she's definitely smiley every morning when she wakes up - well, i guess i would to, if i am allowed to sleep 12 hours in a stretch!!! talking about sleep, i haven't slept through the night since she was borned... the sacrifice of total breastfeeding. and there she goes, flipping all over the bed, and going onto her crawling pose. btw, this baby gap overall was a present from aunty hazel before ashley was even borned, and she is finally able to fit into it (a tad long, but sure feels comfy). :-)

btw, we're going to start her on solids once she turns 6 months. actually she has already shown all the signs of being able to take solids - picks up objects and places them into mouth, able to sit up (although support is required), very interested when others are eating - and we have gotten ready her high chair, we are still resisting and will put her on milk all the way till she's 6 months (for non-parents, total milk for the first 6 months is recommended especially if there is a family history of allergies. solids will also help provide the iron required around the 6-months mark, the time when the iron stores start to deplete). now all we're lacking is a steamer and blender to make all the delicious baby purees! i'm quite keen to splurge on this steamer-cum-blender from philips avent, just so that it's more convenient for my mum (& us) to prepare her food.
